Art Classes and Tuition

JUNIOR ART CLASSES 

DESIGNED FOR CHILDREN 5-16 YEARS 

ArtatKaren’s offers art classes that give children the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of visual arts to help them reach their full creative potential. Our aim is to encourage our students to develop the skills required to master the basic elements, these being: a study of line, proportions, definition, tone, texture and shape. Knowledge of the expressive and descriptive qualities of these elements will provide a vocabulary or language of art, which will help our students to become more confident in their approach to developing and creating imaginative artwork. 

The classes provide a space for our students to experiment and express their thoughts, feelings, emotions and ideas. Making creative learning fun, through engaging art projects designed to improve creative thinking, bring out their natural creative talents as well as contribute to their social wellbeing within our community. 

Use of modern artists as a reference to understand the use of certain elements in their work will encourage our students to develop an appreciation of, and an analytical approach to, Art. Lessons encourage the use of mixed media for our students to develop their own ideas fully. 

In term 4, we stage an exhibition for parents, family members and friends to view our student’s works of art.  This added incentive encourages our students to participate fully in each lesson, try their hardest to create their finest piece and thus becoming more confident about their work.  Lessons run every Monday at our Dawesville Art Studio and  Wednesday's at St Damien's Catholic Primary School, for 1 and ½ hours each school term. The cost per term is $200.00 per child with all materials supplied. 

Classes are limited to ten students for our Monday class and sixteen students for our Wednesday class.

ENROLMENT TERMS AND CONDITIONS

OUR PROGRAM

ArtatKaren’s is running structured art classes this term and each term that follows, designed to take students from absolute beginner through to creating imaginative art works. Our courses are pre planned and structured to progress week-by-week, culminating with an exhibition in Term 4. 

Students are expected to keep up with the rest of the class with no outbursts or bad behaviour. If classes are missed, we will provide the necessary material/handouts for that student to catch up by the next lesson.

As this is a group class, materials are supplied beforehand, and to ensure the bookings and confirmation for your child, we require full term payment up front, as the places are limited to TWELVE on a Monday and TWENTY on a Wednesday, students per class. Payments are therefore neither refundable nor transferable to a later term, should you be unable to attend for any reason. Please be advised that this is a term fee no discount for missed classes will be provided. Classes will still run on Public Holidays unless notified prior to the start of the term.
